Qutub Minar

It is 73 m-high tallest minaret in the world, made up of bricks, lying amongst the crumbling structural ruins. It is believed that the Qutb Minar was built by Qutab-ud-din Aibak to mark the victory after the defeat of Delhi’s last Hindu kingdom. It is constructed from red sandstone and has detailed carvings and inscriptions throughout the tower with Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque at the foot of the tower which is the first mosque to be built in India.

It is situated in the Mehrauli area of Delhi. The minaret is a part of the Qutab complex and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is a Qutub Festival that takes place here every October/November where Indian classical music and dance are shown.

How to get there: It is easier to reach complex by taking a metro to Qutab Minar station followed by an auto rickshaw for 1km to the ruins.

Humayun,s Tomb

This monument had been built as a tomb for the Mughal emperor Humayun back in the sixteenth century. It depicts Persian designs on walls. It is housed by the vast area where there are marble tombs of a few other Mughal rulers as well. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
How to reach: the closest metro station is either Khan Market or JLN Stadium, followed by an auto rickshaw or an auto rickshaw from the Lodi Gardens.
